What is actually happening to those ice caps?

All of us know that there are huge ice caps on either side of our earth. They turn to be the only source of pure drinking water for all living things in this planet.Currently it is estimated that after some thousands year of gap, the level of melting of these ice caps have gone to the peak. The inevitable reason would be burning of fossil fuels and it is clear that there is going to be a great disaster that may become the source for the next World War.
All above this the heat conditions during this early summer is like that of in the middle summer periods of older times.
