What is Golodomor or Holodomor?

Sometimes we find ourselves being moved by incidents that occurs in a flash of time.Such an incident, happened to me while I was just crawling through the internet. Many of us would be familiar with global facts known world wide. One such fact about the Soviet Union was that it is a country within 'iron bars'. Upto a certain period in history it remained a puzzle like the deep amazon forests to all other countries. No one knows what happens behind that rigid 'iron bars'.
Now when all those things that become history comes to our ears, they bring real past before our eyes. During the early 90 century, there was a major famine named holodomor that affected almost the entire soviet region. The interesting fact here was, usually famine will be caused because of factors like Weather distortion,Over utilization of ground water etc.But in this case it was the policy adapted by the government authorities. In order to attain rapid development, they seemed to used all agricultural products for exporting and thereby leaving nothing for the people to eat.
This famine had claimed the lives of around 5 million people approximately. Actually it was named Golodomor representing great hunger or mass hunger. But later it was changed to the current name it seems.
